I have a few favourites but I thought I would mention the Freedom
Hill Cape blend, it is a real gem at this discounted price of R35.75 a bottle,(normal

My partner and I
enjoyed it with a delicious home-made chicken pie (yes I made it
myself) and we could not get over the value for money that the
Cape Blend offered and how easy drinking it was. I'm placing my

Tasting note:
A ruby red, fruity, easy-drinking wine with a touch of cinnamon on
the nose. A delicious blend, with silky tannins on the palate and a
smooth complex aftertaste and silky tannins on the palate.
Freedom Hill wines are made on the historic farm,
Klompzicht, in the Paarl Wine of Origin Region. The prestigious
range derives its name from the fact that the vineyards overlook the
legendary Victor Verster Prison (now Drakenstein Prison), where
Nelson Mandela took his first steps to freedom - thus heralding a
bright new era for our country. Today, each wine in this range is a

Freedom Hill is a boutique winery situated on the south western
slopes of the Wemmershoek mountain range in the Paarl wine region.
The competent winemaking duo at Freedom Hill consists of Francois Naude
and Kowie du Toit, who have in excess of 50 years of winemaking
experience between them. All red wines are made from grapes grown on the
farm, and the total production amounts to 6000 cases.
Winemaker, Francois Naude has earned many awards and continues to
attract enthusiastic aficionados who celebrate his winemaking skills.
Since Francois is an honorary member (Keeper of the Key) of the
prestigious Cape Wine Makers Guild; The Pinotage Association and was
also the Chairman of The Chenin Blanc Association's, his achievements
are testament to the superb wines he crafts at Freedom Hill winery.
